Some say being a top seed in a tournament patterned after the US NCAA March Madness comes with added pressure. The higher you are seeded, the bigger the target on your back.

But for the University of Santo Tomas, Jose Rizal University, Emilio Aguinaldo College and Adamson University, pressure is part of the challenge. They have embraced it, and now they are ready to face whatever comes their way—with one target in mind: survive, sweep the competition, and bring out the broomsticks in 2026.

Sitting at the top of the bracket are the UST Growling Tigers.

The Tigers earned the right to be the top seed after capturing the NSAC title last May. With that distinction comes expectations—and plenty of pressure.

But the España-based squad is loaded with experience and talent, making them one of the teams expected to make a deep run in the tournament.

Still, being the favorite guarantees nothing.

In this win-or-go-home tournament, it only takes an incomplete lineup, one off night, or one bad quarter against a determined underdog to turn a favorite into an upset victim and a footnote in tournament history.

Not far behind are the No. 2 seed, the JRU Heavy Bombers.

JRU has been creating a lot of noise over the past few months in the collegiate basketball scene by collecting championships in tournaments such as the UBelt Cup, Filoil Cup, and recently Cebu City Collegiate Invitational Basketball Tournament.

As the second seed, the Heavy Bombers arrive with plenty of firepower and an even bigger hunger.

After years of title-less campaigns, JRU has made it clear that it is ready to reclaim its place among the country's elite.

But one question remains: Have they peaked too early?

JRU and Coach Nani Epondulan look determined to keep their winning ways alive, but The Big Dance is a different beast. Every game is a new challenge, and one thing is certain: danger awaits any team that steps onto the floor unprepared.

Seeded third are the EAC Generals, a team that has quietly built something special over the past few months.

While others grabbed the headlines, EAC went about its business, developing a cohesive unit built around the system of Coach Jerson Cabiltes.

With players who understand their roles and buy into the system, the Generals are ready to showcase their toughness, discipline, and defensive identity and turn those qualities into victories, just as they did in the Pinoyliga Next Man Cup in the past two seasons.

But in a short, knockout tournament like The Big Dance, the margin between winning and losing is razor-thin.

When the pressure rises and possessions become more valuable near the endgame, every team needs someone who can take over and deliver when everything is on the line. For EAC, who will be that one?

Completing the cast of top seeds are the Adamson Soaring Falcons.

Adamson may have experienced an up-and-down stretch over the past few months, but don't let the results fool you because this Nash Racela-mentored squad knows how to win when it matters the most.

After all, they are the defending champions of The Big Dance for a reason.

Expect the Falcons to leave everything on the court when the game is on the line, especially with a chance to keep the perpetual trophy in San Marcelino.

But things are easier said than done.

Last season, Adamson had Cedrick Manzano leading the charge. This year, the shadow left by their gentle giant has been felt throughout the team.

So the question now becomes: Who will be the new leader of the Soaring Falcons once things get tough for them?

Each enters The Big Dance as a favorite and a top seed in its respective bracket.
