The wind beneath his wings: Luague flying solo for the Young Titans

ENDERUN COLLEGE, TAGUIG – Young Titan Aeron Luague continues to prove that his skills aren’t the only reason basketball fans await his court presence with bated breath. His humility, eloquence, and heart are what people are eager to see in the former-DAVRAA guard/forward.

Connection plays a large role in his Juniors Cup stint. Despite the Young Titans holding the top stats for efficiency, points, and assists, the team has yet to win a game. While talent is clearly not an issue for the Burgundy-and-Bronze, chemistry and trust seem to be their biggest obstacle. During the pre-game interview, Luague emphasized that the boys wanted to prove their ability to work as a team, especially considering their total size of only 13 players. 

Luague is a key player for the Young Titans, averaging 9.5 points per game and leading in assists for the second season of the Juniors Cup. The Davaoeño’s game IQ and high energy are indicative of his natural talent, making his presence instrumental to executing their plays. The team’s focus on zone defense practically requires his expertise and talent as a big, and he does not disappoint. 

Humble beginnings

While most known for his Palaro stint, Luague is still very proud of his other accomplishments. “Naglaro din po ako sa NBTC,” (I also played in the NBTC) he said, “under Off-Campus [Residences],” citing his other big league experience in Davao. In 2025, their team made it all the way to the finals, participating in the 2025 Smart-NBTC series, Madness in MOA. 

Like many other young athletes, the Young Titan has always dreamed of making it big in basketball. “Gusto ko po talaga mag-pro,” (I really want to play professionally,) he expressed. He elaborated on how his dreams inspired him to pursue Enderun College, for the sake of his family. “Gagalingan ko po para sa pamilya ko,” (I want to be successful for my family) he stated, following up with the fact that he is the eldest sibling of three, and wants to be able to support his family back in Davao in the same way they’ve supported him.

Flying from the nest

As a high school student coming all the way from Davao, Luague is no stranger to feeling the weight of responsibility. His passion on the court is rooted in his instincts as a family man, as he aims to use this opportunity to support his loved ones back home. 

He recounted how different it was to play for Enderun, noting that while he’s played in Manila before, this was his first time being away from home for this long. However, he continually reminds himself that all of his efforts are for the loved ones he left behind, emphasizing the responsibility he feels as the eldest sibling, and the instinct to provide for them, whether he’s on or off the court.

Playing for the Burgundy-and-Bronze

The new environment had brought challenges for Luague, being the only member of the 2026 DAVRAA team to find his way in the hallowed halls of Enderun College. While he had already played numerous times in Manila, his new team became eye-opening for him. “Na-culture shock po ako sa sistema [ng Enderun],” (The system [at Enderun] gave me culture shock) he said. However, he assured that he was definitely adjusting well to the environment, and had already grown a deep sense of gratitude for the school.

The Juniors Cup star noted that Enderun took great care of their athletes, allowing him to access top-tier facilities at a moment’s notice. And they would allow him to eventually pursue his chosen college program, Hospitality Management.

“Maganda po yung [Hospitality Management] dito sa Enderun, sabi ng kapatid ko,” (My sibling told me that Enderun has an excellent Hospitality Management program) he shared, returning to the idea of providing for his family. Luague noted the possibility that, if basketball doesn’t pan out, then he has a great school with a world-class program to fall back on. 

New flock

Luague is one of many talented players on the Young Titans lineup. While he’s certainly instrumental to the team, he doesn’t take all the credit. Alongside the former Blue Knight is Kian Diva, another frontrunner in the Juniors Cup, and former Palaro NCR athlete. While the two were once opponents only a few months ago, their connection is currently one of the strongest facets of the current roster. Together, the two currently hold the top positions for the scoring, points, two-points, and assist leaderboards.

While the Young Titans have yet to see a victory, they believe that the most important thing is to trust each other. Luague has always been realistic when it comes to improvement, often focusing on their team’s strengths and weaknesses to pull forward. This mindset, along with his passion and dedication to his craft, prove that his upward flight into greatness is only a matter of time.
