If there's one thing that is certain once the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball (MPBL) playoffs resume, John Wilson will be a more loaded weapon that is raring to fire those long-range bombs as the San Juan Knights try to return to the MPBL Finals.

And while the Knights and the Makati Super Crunch are currently tied at one win apiece in the North Division Finals with a still forthcoming Game Three that has been long postponed by the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the hiatus will only make the series more interesting as MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes insisted on multiple occasions that the league will not abandon the 2020 playoffs with only a few games left to decide who will reign supreme in the 2019-2020 season.

John Wilson may have been known to fans as a long-range bomber but he is more than just a scorer and that's a reason why he's the reason why Mark Yee has another heavy opponent in the race for Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

During the 2019-2020 regular season, John Wilson led the league in scoring by averaging 19 points per game including a record-smashing 44-point performance back in September. He scored a total of 656 points in the 30-game regular season which is 108 points more compared to Jeric Teng's 548-point total. He has also shown his defensive ace as he averaged 2.3 steals per game (second in the league) and stole the ball in a total of 78 times. All of that despite only playing 27 minutes per game.

But more than the numbers that John Wilson, an MVP in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) with the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers, has been putting up for the San Juan Knights,  it's the leadership that John Wilson has been and will continue to bring onto the table for Coach Randy Alcantara and company all season that yes, he can have bad games but whenever the game is on the line, John Wilson can deliver in crucial moments of the game and that alone, makes him a frontrunner in the MVP race this season.
