Three weeks in, the YBC Legends Cup has provided us with plenty of exciting games with thrilling finishes. Proving that indeed Above 38 Ballers still has some gas left in their tank! Lets take a look at the YBC Legends Power Ranking after Week 3

# 1 - GRINDHOUSE ( 3 - 1 )

There is no doubt this is the team to beat for this Tournament! Stacked from top to bottom, this Wowie Evangelista led squad boasts of a Gec Chia - Custer Braganza front court and a slew of wing players that can shoot the lights out in JC Santos, Jacques Lee and sharp shooter Dennis Ting! Winning in double figures their first 3 game, including a 36 point beatdown of Mandaluyong, their streak came into a halt with a 53-52 loss in overtime to Pepsi Legends. In that game, Wowie Evangelista had the chance to win it via the free throw line where he was fouled while taking a three point attempt.

Still the future looks bright for this team and will remain up top this ranking before the playoffs though their next games will include Apollo and Padrinos, both equally loaded squad.

#2 - APOLLO LEGENDS ( 3 - 0 )

A squad with three proven scorers will always be have a place at the top of any Power Ranking. Scoring Machines Caloy Sario, Bertwin Lee and Mike Limpe has taken turns punishing their opponents with their scoring. Sario has been impressive thus far with his 19.03 PER to go along with his second ranked scoring average of 18.5 points per game and 8 rebounds per game. He has been a match up nightmare as he can play both in and out.

Lee, on the other hand, has been the perfect 2nd option to Sario with his instant offense. Quick on his feet for his size, his 12.33 PPG plugs in while Sario is out. Jorel Calixto, Mike Sunga and Rich Pasion rounds out the solid core of this team.

Currently on top of the Team Standings with their 3-0 record including an impressive 20 point win over Paranaque, Apollo will take on Aston Martin next.

#3 - PADRINOS WAY BARBERHUB ( 2 -1 )

The Carlo Poblete - Garvey Ceballos partnership is in full effect this Tournament! Ceballos is currently leading the league in assist with 5.67 while Poblete is up in all statistical rankings from PER to scoring to rebounding and blocks.

Both wins for Padrinos has been close calls including a low scoring 33-32 win over Aston Martin. Their only loss came from Paranaque.

Marvin De Jesus, Ranz Ungco and Jude Turcuato went toe to toe with Aston twin towers Matt Farley and Mans Dy which would serve them well in their future games as they have higher ranked Grindhouse and Apollo lined up.

#4 - PEPSI LEGENDS ( 2 - 2 )

This scappy team has been fighting it out without a legitimate big man in the first 3 games as team centerpiece Jerwin Agarao was sidelined. In the absence of Agarao, Benny Benitez,  Carlos Agassi, Ronnie Pizarro and Jake Iliscupidez stepped up while Joao Pablo, with his unorthodox shot, has been hitting it from the parking lot! Benitez and Pizarro currently ranks 3rd and 4th respectively in the Statistical Point race with Benitez leading the league in free throw percentage.

Pepsi just came from a thrilling win over top ranked Grindhouse, 53 - 52, with the returning Agarao leading the charge with 18 points including clutch baskets during crunch time.

Up next for Pepsi are games against Aston Martin and Paranaque.

#5 - PARANAQUE ( 2 - 2 )

The CSA Boys are mired in the middle! With a solid core made up of JA Coching, Carlo and Paul Franco, Eric Arejola and resident sharp shooter Tonio Castro, a lot is expected from this crew. So far, it has been an up and down ride as they opened up with a loss to Grindhouse but followed it up with a close with against Padrino. Anloss to Apollo was then followed up by a win against Taguig A.

The schedule may be in their favor as they have already closed out games against higher seeded team.

#6 - MAKATI - ASTON MARTIN ( 1 - 2 )

It has been a struggle so far for this Marc Tagle owned team as they have only one win to show. Adding to their woes is the reported injury to their primary big man and resident Captain America of the league, Matt Farley.

The team was able to pick up a victory against last place team Mandaluyong but suffered losses to top tier teams Grindhouse and Padrinos. The Padrinos game, in particular, was a close call and could have gone the way of Aston.

Mark Ches Ang is the bright spot for this team as he lead in scoring with 12.33 ppg while Matt Farley has tapered down his scoring to 9.33 ppg while still lording it over the PER metrics with 12.97 PER. His 8.67 rpg is still one of the best in the league.

#7 - TAGUIG A ( 1 -3 )

On paper, this team looks to be one of the strongest as they are  stacked on all positions. Billy Villareal is the consummate point guard that every team covets as he can pass and score. They also have a trio of big men that can easily compete with the bigs of Grindhouse at any given day with Chicoy Alvarez, Mike Montes and Darrel Del Pilar. Competing the line up are a pair of legit sharpshooters in Bin Ikeda and Richie Ysmael.

But they have suffered stunning defeats against Padrinos, Apollo and Paranaque where they controlled most of the game only to falter in the end. Sorely missing is the services of Alvarez.

#7 - MANDALUYONG ( 0 -3 )

Mac Wong is leading the league in scoring with his 23 ppg but its clearly not enough to propel Mandaluyong to its first win of the Tournament. A devastating 36 point loss to Grindhouse has put the team in a big hole midway. Though the silver lining for this team are the close loses against Aston and Pepsi. Attendance is something that needs to be addressed as they have not yet played with a complete line up.

Expect this team to compete once Don Borcena and Mac Wong gets back. Up next for the team are Apollo, Padrinos, Taguig A and Paranaque
