The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is hoping to restart the Philippine Cup by next month. The league on Monday has sent another letter to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases, asking IATF to allow the PBA teams to hold scrimmages and 5x5 games this month in preparation for the restart inside a bubble venue that is yet to be determined.

For National Task Force (NTF) against 2019 Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr., "Personally, considering the reports we're getting about people suffering from anxiety and stress, the move (PBA resumption) is very timely," He added, "When we have PBA 'mania', people will have another source of entertainment. It will divert their attention. It would be good if basketball is alive,"

Galvez also pointed out that the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the United States have restarted their season last July 31 in one bubble inside Disney World in Orlando- something that the PBA hopes they can use as a model. "The NBA players, they are having it (bubble)" Galvez quipped.

Ultimately, where, when, and how the PBA will return with the all-Filipino conference will depend on what the league will agree on and how the government will respond.
