No more jitters as Uber finally barged into winning column after dismantling Centric IT - Team A, 44-20, in the Corporate Recreational division of Kings of the Court / STR8 Philippines Invitiational held at The Upper Deck Lifestyle Center in Pasig City.
Having the size advantage, Uber relied on their defense which made difference in the match as they put Centric IT Group - Team A into a dismal field goal average with only 13.7 percent.
Terrence Teodosio was the only player to finish in double figures as he collected 20 points, including four three-pointers.
Both teams had a hard time running their plays as the first quarter became a low-scoring ballgame with Uber on top by one, 8-7.
Physicality rose up in the second quarter as bodies fell down on the floor. Teodosio started off the quarter with two three-pointers to give Uber a seven-point advantage, but the succeeding minutes turned out a struggle for both teams, especially on offense. Uber stayed ahead, 16-9.
Uber had their defense paid off by converting fastbreak baskets, courtesy of Jan Jeffrey Andres and Teodosio, stretching their lead to 16 points. However, Jay De Lima knocked down back-to-back baskets for Centric IT-Team A to cut the deficit to 12 going to the final canto, 27-15.
As Joshua Redillas brought Centric IT - Team A to within single digit after a three-point play, Uber responded with a ferocious 16-2 run to officially notch their first win in the league.
Joseph Carlo Hermo and Joshua Redillas combined for 12 points as Centric IT Group - Team A now holds 1-1 win-loss record.
