Throwback Sunday: Kai Sotto and Jalen Green Faced Each Other Twice

If there's one thing that Kai Sotto can stop worrying about, it's the possibility of him being dunked over by fellow Filipino basketball prodigy in Jalen Green. After all, it already happened in the past.

Kai Sotto and Jalen Green. Two highly-touted basketball prospects in the United States who are about team up for the Southern California Select Team in the National Basketball Association (NBA) G-League as the two prodigies have decided to forego their collegiate career and take an alternative path towards making it to the NBA. 

However, these two young guns already have history between them and yes, they have already faced each other on the big stage. Twice.

Just last year, a Jalen Green-led Fil-Am Sports USA team took on the Ateneo Blue Eaglets of Kai Sotto in the finals of the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) which was won by the Fil-Am Sports USA but that game didn't end without a highlight-reel play from Jalen Green which happened in the second quarter. With his team up by nine points and seven minutes left in the quarter, Jalen Green, upon receiving a pass, went up in the air and was met by Kai Sotto. Despite the sheer height advantage that Sotto had, Green was able to throw down one tomahawk dunk, putting Kai Sotto, a guy who stands seven-foot-two, on a poster. That play sent the crowd inside the Mall of Asia Areba into a frenzy.

And as mentioned, there were two occasions where both Sotto and Green faced each other and in both instances, Sotto ended up being put on a poster by Green.

In the same arena in 2018, during the 2018 NBTC All-Star Game, Kai Sotto got dunked over by Jalen Green. 

Kai Sotto, for his side, said that he just can't wait to play with great players such as Jalen green. The former Ateneo Blue Eaglet also said that he can't wait to share the court with Green and learn some things from him.

Those two match-ups of two highly-touted players are just a glimpse of what we can expect when they start playing together in the G-League. And if things go well, in the NBA.
