It has been seven months since Calvin Abueva has been indefinitely suspended from playing in the PBA for his altercation with then-TNT import, Terrence Jones, and the former's word war with Ray Parks and his girlfriend when Parks was still a member of the Blackwater Elite. Not to mention the domestic violence allegations from his wife that rocked the PBA in July of last year.
And by the looks of it, it seems that the PBA won't even take a look at Calvin Abueva and his chance at a return to the big league as we've heard nothing from the league officials whatsoever about the Beast.
So, here's a question for all of you: Should Calvin Abueva be given a chance to play in the PBA again?
If you look at what happened in the past months, Abueva has been allowed to join the practices of the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters since September of last year and has also made a public apology the month after and since then, nothing has come up with regards to the Abueva front.
Here's the thing: the PBA Board of Governors held their huddle last January 30, 2020, in Italy wherein PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said that he would have to talk to the governors about Abueva and his recent activities. Since then, nothing came out. No statements. No updates. In other words, there is no timeline yet as to if and when Abueva's PBA ban will be lifted.
Now, if you listen to what Phoenix Coach Louie Alas said last month, the Beast has been actively participating in social responsibility programs aside from the various outreach activities that he himself is doing. Remember when Taal Volcano threatened to go full nuclear? Abueva was there to help the victims of the volcanic activities.
And let's face it, Calvin Abueva's presence in the PBA is one of the things that makes the league more entertaining minus his unnecessary antics.
Simply put it this way, folks, if an import can return to the league even after choking his own teammate, then why can't the Beast?
In other words, everyone deserves a second chance, right?
