Serbia routs Angola in strong start to World Cup campaign

Serbia trounced Angola, 105-59, in an excellent start to their campaign in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in Foshan, China.

The Serbians were seen as one of the title contenders in this year’s World Cup and they showed it during the game against the Angolans. The Serbians, with NBA players on their roster, led by as much as 49 points to get the victory at the start of their campaign.

Bogdan Bogdanovic had 24 points and Nikola Jokic and Nikola Milutinov scored 14 points each for Serbia. Also contributing is Boban Marjanovic as he had 12 points and 10 rebounds in the game.

It was an utter domination for the Serbians as they went on a 9-0 run in the first period to get a 24-13 lead. Jokic started that run with a 3-point play.

Serbia outscored Angola 21-12 and 28-15 in the second and third quarters respectively in getting a 78-47 advantage entering the fourth quarter.

Serbia’s next game will be against Gilas Pilipinas on Monday.
