San Miguel defeated Phoenix Pulse, 105-94, last April 25 at the Cuneta Astrodome to make it to its fifth consecutive PBA Philippine Cup finals.
The Beermen kept their hopes of extending their dynasty after winning the semifinal series against the Fuel Masters, 4-1. San Miguel has won four straight Philippine Cup crowns and is one series away from taking another title.
Chris Ross showed his offensive prowess after tallying 24 points and converting five three-point attempts. Alex Cabagnot had 22 points and 7 assists to also make a big contribution to the win.
“Credit to Phoenix. They pushed us to the limit and we love it. Hopefully, we could learn from these two series. I hope we could sustain our momentum going to the finals,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria.
The Beermen are now waiting for their finals opponent as it will be either Rain or Shine or Magnolia, which leads the series, 3-2.
The Beermen were already ahead, 80-55, but the Fuel Masters refused to give up as they were able to cut the gap to four points, 98-94. Matt Ganuelas-Rosser made a defensive gem when he stole the ball from Calvin Abueva, leading to a Romeo bucket.
