San Miguel, Magnolia lose in first game of PBA Commissioner's Cup

San Miguel and Magnolia suffered setbacks in their first game back since figuring in the PBA Philippine Cup finals.

The Beermen were routed by NorthPort in shocking fashion as they lost, 121-88, as the Hotshots also suffered a defeat as they bowed to Alaska, 103-80, in their Commissioner’s Cup debut.

Both San Miguel and Magnolia played their first game of the conference after competing for the Philippine Cup crown. The Beermen won that game over the Hotshots, 72-71, in the final match of the best-of-seven series.

Robert Bolick took command in NorthPort’s win over San Miguel after finishing with 25 points. Prince Ibeh also played big as he had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Batang Pier.

Chris Daniels had 23 points for the Aces, as JVee Casio had 17 points and shot 3 of 5 from three-point range. In total, Alaska had 14 triples in the contest.
