San Juan captured its sixth straight victory at the expense of Parañaque, 81-65, last Tuesday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Lakan Cup at the Caloocan Sports Complex.
Mac Cardona had a good outing for the Knights as they stayed unbeaten to start off their campaign in the new season of the league.
Larry Rodriguez and John Wilson also had a good outing in helping San Juan get a lead as high as 23 points in the contest.
Rodriguez had 13 points, and Wilson nearly posted a double-double after finishing with 9 points and 10 rebounds in the San Juan victory.
Andoy Estrella scored on a lay-up and San Juan grabbed a 9-3 lead to start off the game. Michael Ayonayon also scored to end the first quarter with the Knights holding a 19-14 lead.
In the second quarter, San Juan began to pull away. A floater by Cardona allowed the Knights to take a 25-18 lead, and the gap suddenly ballooned to 40-24 on a basket by Rodriguez. At the half, San Juan with a 43-32 advantage.
San Juan outscored Paranaque, 19-16, in the third quarter for a 62-48 lead, and in the fourth quarter. Cedric Pelayo hit a jumper for the biggest lead in the game, 79-56.
