SAN BEDA TAKES CARE OF BUSINESS, WINS OVER U.P

The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons may have to wait a bit longer to earn that pre-season favorite tag as the San Beda University Red Lions took care of business and handed them a 75 - 66 beating to start the Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Cup held at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan. 

Donald Tankoua starred for th Red Lions with 24 points and 11 rebounds and got the better of his match up with a familiar foe in Bright Akhuetie who finished with 4 points and 8 rebounds. James Canlas supported Tankoua with 13 points and 7 rebounds while the rest of the  starters, Evan Nelle, JB Bahio and Clint Dolinguez each had 7 points. Team Behold products Prince Etrata and Peter Alfaro also show reasons for their promotion to Team A as they masterfully handled the back court together with Nelle. 

For the Fighting Maroons, their celebrated recruits showed their flashes of brilliance as Ricci Rivero and Kobe Paras each had 18 points to go along with some highlight dunks in the first half . James Spencer also lit it up with his shooting, going 6 of 6 from the stripe to go along with his two triples. In the end, it was still the disciplined and systematic approach of the Red Lions to the game that handed them the victory. 

True to the spirit of being  Student -Athletes, with student being the priority, brother Juan And Javi Gomez de Liano were not able to play to give way to their respective school project.
