San Beda Red Lions routs arch-rivals Letran Knights to tally 15th win in a row

Evan Nelle spearheaded another stellar performance by the San Beda Red Lions as they clobbered arch-rivals Letran Knights, 75-63, in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball tournament on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Center.

Nelle filled the stat-sheet up with 12 points, seven assists and two rebounds without committing a single turnover to lead the Red Lions to their 15th straight win and 29th overall.

Calvin Oftana led San Beda in scoring with 16 points and six boards, Clint Doliguez added 13, while James Canlas also had 12 points.

San Beda got off to a scintillating 17-1 start but Letran weathered the storm and was able to tie the game up at 42-all in the third period. But the reigning champions regained their bearings and responded with a scorching 20-0 run in the third canto to break the game wide open.

Letran, which got 13 points from Larry Muyang, fell to 9-6. Jerrick Balanza was held down to just 11 points on 2-of-8 shooting.

San Beda is set to take on the Mapua Cardinals on Friday.
