Filipinos love basketball. One may even say that basketball has become more of a religion to Filipinos rather than a sport. But in these times where the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic has shut down basketball, basketball fans might need to wait longer as sports officials have already spoken.

"5x5 basketball will only be allowed in areas where any form of quarantine is lifted"

That is one of the many things that are being tackled in the document released by the Philippine Sports Institute (PSI). The document, which can be read on the Facebook page of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) also mentioned that skills training and drills are allowed to be held as a group as long as participants are practicing physical distancing. It also states that all kinds of person-to-person interactions (PPI) aren't allowed in any area that is still under quarantine.

The document also classified the four quarantine levels as Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), Modified ECQ, General Community Quarantine (GCQ), Modified GCQ, and those areas that are not under any quarantine will be classified as "new normal"

In the end, the document added that holding organized leagues and tournaments will be allowed in an area where the quarantine has been lifted which means we won't have our usual taste of exciting basketball action in a long time.
