POWERED BY KOTC|STR8: TNVS OPERATORS GRACE THE HARDCOURT FOR THE FIRST EVER TNVR BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Several groups from the TNVS community hit the hardwood in their first ever TNVR Basketball League organized by Kings of the Court|STR8, on Saturday morning at the PNP Gym in Quezon City.

The said league was the brainchild of Commissioner Eric Fernandez, who bared that the initiative is already one year in the making after gathering together several TNVS groups from Grab and Uber the last time around.

“We started with different type of groups - we had Uber groups, Grab groups, dual groups. Most of the leaders were invited by Grab. We got to know each other during those meetings and we’ve thought of creating alliance between groups,” said Fernandez

“We planned this a year ago but it didn’t push through because we had [other] priorities. All of us are driving and operating under Grab, which is a ride hailing app. Ginawa namin itong league na ito for the first time after almost a year and a half of existence to unite all groups under TNVS, not just TNVR members,” he further detailed.

12 teams are set to banner the league’s inaugural season, and games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays either at the PNP Gym in Quezon City or at the Dumlao Gym in Mandaluyong City. 

Given the operators’ grueling work environments, fostering brotherhood and promoting a healthier lifestyle are things that the league is aiming for its participants.

Furthermore, Fernandez is delighted with the opening day turnout and he expects bigger things for the league as they plan on adding more teams for next season.

“It’s about having the camaraderie and bonding ng groups, getting familiar with other groups. And of course, sports promote good health,” said Fernandez.

“This first season will be a preparation for seasons to come. Here, it’s a test for us on how we organize and work together better. Eventually, we’ll try to improve for next season,” he concluded.
