Phoenix Pulse came away with a huge victory as the Fuel Masters edged Barangay Ginebra, 111-103, last Friday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Fuel Masters outscored the Gin Kings, 45-25, in the third quarter to fight back from a 14-point deficit and take the victory, their fourth in eight outings.
Matthew Wright had 32 points, and Richard Howell added 31 points in leading the Fuel Masters to victory. The two combined for 27 points in the third quarter to lead the comeback.
The Fuel Masters also won with head coach Louie Alas being ejected for two consecutive technical fouls.
Ginebra was still ahead, 56-44, at halftime and again at 64-50 in the third quarter before Phoenix Pulse took over.
Justin Brownlee had 31 points, including 21 of the team’s 22 points in the fourth period as the Gin Kings now join Phoenix Pulse and Alaska at fifth place with a 4-4 card.
