Perpetual Help nabs NU Bulldogs in OT

The Perpetual Altas showed their strength and composure as they beat the mighty NU Bulldogs in overtime to open their Pinoyliga Cup campaign on a winning note.

It was a nip and tuck affair all throughout the contest as nobody gives an inch to their opponent.

The first quarter ended up with a tied score of 18 while Kim Aurin's last-second shot gave the Altas a three-point lead to end the first half.

The See-saw battle continues in the 2nd half until Ralph Caugiran gave Altas its biggest lead of the game at 7 points at the 6:49 mark of the final quarter. Free-throws though hurts their cause as they gave up 6 in the next 3 minutes which the Bulldogs translated to 5 points.

A Ken Padrones basket tied the game at 64 then Marcus Nitura and Ian Manansala traded big threes for a score of 67-all in the last minute of the game.

Altas is on its way to victory after a Jielo Razon 3-pointer with 21 seconds remaining. Terrence Crisostomo then misses his own three that force them to give a foul to Shawn Orgo. Orgo failed to ice the game as he only converted one from the line. Donn Lim then made a crucial turnover for NU but luckily for them Roy Antalan steals the ball in the inbound play and made the game-tying three as the buzzer sounds forcing overtime.

Donn Lim opens overtime with a booming three but Perpetual made an 11-0 run after that to score an 83-75 win. 

Altas made 20 out of 31 free throws compared to NU's 13 out of 19 free throws. 

Meanwhile, Bulldogs lit it up as they made 10 three points in the game while Perpetual only made 5.

Marcus Nitura shows way as he scored 16 points and hauled down 6 rebounds while blocking 4 shots. Altas ace guard Kim Aurin made 5 out of 7 shots to finish with 13 points. 

Mark Parks carried the load for the Bulldogs with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals.
