Columbian defeated NLEX, 120-105, last June 1 to secure its first win in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.

CJ Perez notched a new career-high as he had 39 points to lead the Dyip to the victory, their first after four games. Columbian started the game with an 11-0 run, and that set the tone for the Dyip’s domination of the game against NLEX.

“Every game is very important. Even if we are 0-3, we have to be professional, do your work, and do your job. It came out na nanalo kami ngayon,” said Columbian coach Johnedel Cardel.

Kyle Barone had an impressive game in his final game with Columbian as he tallied 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Barone is set to be replaced by Lester Prosper.

NLEX remained winless in four games despite the 32-point, 16-rebound effort of Tony Mitchell. It was NLEX’s second game without Yeng Guiao, who is taking a respite following a grueling election campaign period and stints with Gilas Pilipinas.
