One Love Basketball League: Sideburns, Monster Energy Drink remain unbeaten on Week 4

Sideburns Barbershop and Monster Energy had followed up their debut wins to make it 2-0 in the fourth week of the One Love Basketball League-R3born Performance Cup last October 19 at the FCL Center in Quezon City.

Both teams got their wins in a convincing fashion to remain unbeaten in Bracket B, solidifying their credentials as pre-season favorites in Division 2 of the league which has R3born Performance Labs as the title sponsor and Pinoyliga as its digital analytics provider.

On the curtain-raiser, Tim Cu followed up his rebounding masterclass as Sideburns dealt then-unbeaten Papawis a massive 107-75 beatdown to open the tripleheader.

With their Vancouver-inspired jerseys, Sideburns prowled like a grizzly bear looking for the kill, and it showed when they dominated the stats in the contest.

The burly big man, who hauled down 23 in their debut win over Mira Nila, pulled 27 more to get his second consecutive player of the game honors to back up his 17 point game for a PER of 28.78, getting a total of 68.5 statistical points in the process.

Cu's scoring output for Sideburns ranked third in the game, in which Ace Basas lead all scorers with 22 as six of them entered double-digit territory.

Papawis fell down to 1-1, with Michael Ilao had 19 in a losing effort.

On the third and final game of the three-game billing, Monster Energy got a huge boost from a former UP Fighting Maroon to subdue still-winless SAMC, 92-74 to also get a share of the lead with Sideburns in the other game of Bracket B.

Guard Vic Epres, who is in the same State U squad with former King Maroon Marvin Cruz and current Dasmariñas, Cavite councilor Martin Reyes, took home the player of the game nod owing to his line of 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals to get 38 SPs (11.96 PER), backstopping Sas Pineda's 18 and Gali Gonzaga's 16.

Jones Agsunod went perfect in the field, hitting all of his six shots from inside the arc to finish with 12 points, and added 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Owen Oliva had a double-double game that went in vain as he had 21 points and 11 rebounds for SAMC.

On the lone game in Bracket A, Martin Estiva put on his Bandana to give King's Cup an 80-70 win to share the top spot with Manila Kingpin, as they withstand the monster game of Kevin Villanueva for its second straight win.

Estiva scored a team-high 18 points, and filled his line with threes in rebounds, assists and steals in 22 minutes and 40 seconds of basketball action, getting the POG honors with 20.52 PER, gathering 33 statistical points in the process.

Playing for all but 3:56 in the ball game, Villanueva carried the huge load for the now 1-2 WorldTV, notching a double-double of 22 points and 19 rebounds (25.41 PER, 60.5 SP) in the loss.
