For the last 13 years, the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup has been the country's major collegiate preseason tournament that features the collegiate teams from both the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It gives the teams the opportunity to experiment which of their players can play better and more importantly, a preseason tournament such as FilOil's is another opportunity for teams to sharpen their games before the start of their respective seasons. And aside from teams from two of the major collegiate leagues in the country, Centro Escolar University and two schools from Cebu have been joining this preseason cup for years.

However, we are in an uncertain time where everything seems uncertain and that includes sports.

Now, we can add the 2020 FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup to the list of tournaments that have been shelved due to the uncertainty that is brought about by the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, the FilOil preseason tournament was slated to start last Labor Day with all teams from both the UAAP and the NCAA all committed to play. Then the pandemic erupted. And most of the country has been placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) which means no sports events can be held. This will mean that the San Beda Red Lions will have to wait until next year, to say the least, to defend their crown which they won against the De La Salle Green Archers last year.

Fortunately, fans will get to enjoy classic Filoil preseason games through the Facebook page of FilOil Flying V Sports starting today.
