SJ Belangel have picked the right time to explode as he leads Ateneo to a successful defense of their National Collegiate Championship of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League, and with that came the top prize in the all-tournament five at the conclusion of the competition Sunday in San Juan.

Having completed his sophomore season for the three-time UAAP Champions, Belangel put up huge numbers to emerge as the Most Valuable Player in the tournament, as the Blue Eagles completed an unbeaten season wherein they went 21-0 from their mother league to the postseason.

The guard was the leading scorer in the NCAA-UAAP Challenge at 20.3 per contest at an efficient 55.6% clip from the field, and had averaged 15 in the Final Four but none bigger was his 10 points in the title game in which he poured it on in the final frame.

Joining Belangel were a quartet of players who put up huge numbers consistently.

His teammate Angelo Kouame, with the slotman pouring in double-double averages of 13 points and 13 rebounds in the national semifinals, and added huge impetus in defense by adding four blocks and three steals per contest.

The San Beda pair of reigning NCAA MVP Calvin Oftana and Ralph Penuela and UV's double-double machine of Lassina Coulibaly rounded up the mythical five.
