The road to Tokyo for Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 squad will have to wait for a little longer as FIBA announced that the Olympic Qualifying Tournament will now be moved to 2021, the same year that the Summer Games were due to take place after it was postponed for this year
Due to the coronavirus pandemic that had crippled the entire sporting world, it has also caused the scrapping of four World Tour events as they have said in their press release that they have to hold off games until the month of August.
That means that the quartet of PBA stalwarts and SEA Games champions Cj Perez and Mo Tautuaa and the country's top players Josh Munzon and Alvin Pasaol will have to stay at home a bit before gearing up for their quest which was originally scheduled in Bangalore, India last March.
The national squad for Tatluhan are drawn in Pool C with Qatar, Slovenia, France and the Dominican Republic as they will have to battle for four spots that were up for grabs.
Apart from the OQT and the World Tour cancellations, FIBA has has also shelved the planned Under-23 Nations League and the Qualifiers for the respective Zone Cups.
