Do you know what they say? When the first domino falls, the rest will follow.
When the ongoing 2019 Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic hit humanity, heroes rose up to fight this deadly disease. These heroes are those who are fighting the good fight up front: the doctors, nurses, and other medical practitioners. However, they cannot fight this one alone and neither can the government. They need help not just in terms of personnel but more importantly, they need more personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect them against possible infection. And frankly, that's something that everyone needs nowadays.
Fortunately, some of the big stars in the local volleyball scene are doing their parts in helping fight the good fight. At least, in their own ways.
Ara Galang, a former De La Salle Lady Spiker, joined in as she put up his white number eight jersey for auction last week with a starting bid of P1,200. The said auction will run until April 2, 2020, at 12 noon. And if you happen to be a fan of the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses, this might be your chance to own a set of authentic jerseys worn by Eya Laure, Imee Hernandez, Maji Mangulabnan, Det Pepito, and Janna Torres as "Every Little Thing Counts" announced on their Facebook page the five UST players have put up their Season 80 jerseys on auction that will run until April 3, 2020, at 12 noon. The starting bid is at 5,000 Pesos and if you go on to win the auction, you will get to keep five jerseys.
All funds raised from the auctions will be used to purchase the PPEs for the brave men and women who are serving as the men and women at the front.
Last week, Jia Morado, a former Ateneo Lady Eagle who nabbed the Best Setter plum back in Season 77 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women's volleyball tournament, had her Season 79 jersey put on auction that had a starting bid of 1,200 Pesos. According to the Facebook page of "Every Little Thing Counts", the highest bid for Morado's number 12 jersey still stands at P10,500 as of last Sunday and the good news is, the auction for Morado's jersey will run until tomorrow at 12 noon so volleyball fans still get a chance to own a legitimate jersey on top of helping fight the good fight.
