The situation is even more difficult now for the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis is 'unlikely to play' for Game 5 after suffering a strained left groin injury in Game 4.

He sustained the injury after he attempted a layup in the 1st half. He was unable to play in the 2nd half of the game, causing the Lakers to lose to the Phoenix Suns in Game 4, 100-92.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Anthony Davis is unlikely to play in Game 5 vs. Suns on Tuesday due to strained groin. There’s optimism about Davis’status as series continues and as he is evaluated day-to-day.

According to a source, Groin injuries can be very complicated, and unfortunately, difficult to recover from. Normal recovery time can be anytime from 4 to 12 weeks, depending on severity and the specific muscles involved.

His partner LeBron James also suffered the same injury on Christmas Day in 2018, LeBron lost 17 games for the Lakers. Stephen Curry was also sidelined in 2018 for three weeks after sustaining a groin injury.

Davis, 28, is currently averaging 21.8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks per game in four games this postseaon for the Lakers. Prior to Game 4, he had 27 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game.

Anthony Davis' 104.1 defensive rating in the 2021 NBA Playoffs would be a big loss for the Lakers if he won't be able to play in Game 5.

The only good news for the Lakers is that Davis has avoided a more serious injury but his status is very much in question.
