June Mar Fajardo won the PBA Philippine Cup finals MVP after a scintillating performance in Game 7 of the series.
Fajardo was adjudged as the finals MVP after a performance to remember in Game 7 when he scored 17 points and grabbed a new PBA record 31 rebounds in the Beermen’s 72-71 win last May 15. That gives Fajardo his third finals MVP in his career, adding to his Best Player of the Conference he had received a few weeks ago. San Miguel also win its fifth straight Philippine Cup title thanks to Fajardo’s heroics.
Fajardo said he only did just job of grabbing the rebounds with the Beermen going for
“Hindi ko ineexpect yun. Basta iniisip ko, kunin ko yung rebounds. Sayang kasi yung opportunity kasi hindi na babalik yun. Kailan pa makakabalik na limang sunod na championship,” Fajardo said.
Fajardo broke the longest standing record in PBA history as he eclipsed the 29 set by Marcelo Simbulan in 1975.
