Italy uses hot shooting to thump Gilas Pilipinas

Italy won over Gilas Pilipinas Men in lopsided fashion, 108-62, last Saturday night in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 at the Foshan International Sports and Cultural Arena.

The Italians showed why they are ranked 13th in the world in outclassing the Philippine team. They were firing from all cylinders, hitting several three-point shots in the first half to start off the rout. Gilas Pilipinas never recovered from the sizzling first half to end up with a defeat.

Italy started the game on fire and would take a 28-4 lead in the first quarter. The sour shooting of Gilas didn’t help as they were down, 37-8, in the first quarter.

Italy continued to pour it on in the second period and established a 62-24 halftime lead. Italy finished the game with 15 of 31 from threes.

On the other hand, the Philippines only hit 3 of its 23 three-point shots.

Andray Blatche had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and CJ Perez also scored 15 points for Gilas Pilipinas. Luigi Datome and Amadeo Della Valle had 17 points, and Danilo Gallinari had 16 points for Italy.
