INTER PICK-UP LEAGUE FINALS PREVIEW: J3FY, DU BASKETBALL GEAR UP FOR HEAVYWEIGHT CLASH IN THE COMPETITIVE DIVISION

A close battle in their first ever clash this season, will serve as the best preview we could ever see from these finals protagonists. J3FY escaped with a 78-76 victory against DU Basketball, back in the elimination round. Matt Ramos nabbed the best player of the game honors in that encounter - finishing with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Fonsy Rodriguez fouled out in the final minutes of the close ballgame, and Roj Cabuenas' and Justine Estaniol's clutch hits in the endgame, sealed J3FY's win.

Not having their prized bigman in the crucial stages of that game, was a big blow for DU. This is what will make their finals tussle a more interesting matchup, as both squads will surely go all out come championship game time.

Team Analysis

J3FY's quest for another glorious run:

Much like DU, J3FY is out to break a drought of their own. After multiple attempts in recent tournaments, the team has not won another title, since the first quarter of 2018. They've come close after entering the semis twice and even making it to the finals last March, but just came up short in the endgame.

Now, behind Ryan Guangco, Roj Cabuenas, Kenneth Pama and Matt Ramos the team is just one win away from the desperately coveted crown. Bringing an unscathed 5-0 record with them, there would be nothing sweeter than a season sweep to the title.

DU Basketball's hunger for a title:

It's been a while since DU Basketball won a title. This is why the hunger for championship, will erase all their prior heartbreaks, and turn them into a much-needed motivation as they look to end the drought.

By the numbers for DU, it's no secret that their success starts on a collective effort on defense. But behind Fonsy Rodriguez and JB De Belen's lead on the offensive end, this makes them more dangerous, especially with how these two can spark the rest of the team to contribute.

The team thrives in doing things as a unit for the entire 40 minutes of play. They will need a ton of that if they want to go all the way this Sunday.

The Inter Pick-Up League Competitive Division crown will be up for grabs at the historic - The Upper Deck Lifestyle Center (East) on August 4, 2019 (Sunday) at 4:00pm.
