Kin'ta Builders needed a huge game by Harvey Montemayor to clinch the Starter Division title of the IFBL Season 17 after seeing off Trojans, 96-94 on Championship Saturday at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong City.

The big man scored huge contributions as the team that was backed by JC2 Studios escaped past the gritty Trojans in a high-scoring affair, as they repeat their conquest last season when they were part of the Arki-JC2 squad.

Montemayor had 25 points to lead all scorers, including the game winner with seven seconds left to clinch the title, as he got a lot of help as well.

Wily point guyard Arvin Sanoy backstopped their lefty forward with 17, with Leon Acero and Arthur Delito each had 15 for Kin'Ta.

The KOTC-backed Trojans were led by Anthony Marquez who had 21 points, as they even led after the third period before losing it in the endgame, but not before tying it before Montemayor's heroics.

The scores:

Kin'Ta 96 -- Montemayor 25, Sanoy 17, Acero 15, Delito 15, Torre 11, Haughton 6, Caballero 4, Villena 3, Esteves 0

Trojans 94 -- Marquez 21, Magbanua 18, Ortiz 11, Baltazar 10, Sugiyama 10, Delos Santos 10, Berdadero 6, Peig 6, Obico 2, Sumandad 0, Ibañez 0, Ferrer 0

Quarter scores: 29-26, 59-55, 76-79, 96-94
