The MVP Sports Foundation gave a timely boost to weightlifting star Hidilyn Diaz as she continues her drive towards Olympic Glory.

Diaz, who won silver in Rio four years ago, was the latest overseas Filipino star to receive aid from MVPSF after world champion gymnast Carlos Yulo as she was locked down in Kuala Lumpur for the past five months owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

She will receive ₱ 1.5 Million directly from the foundation to boost her drive for the rescheduled Tokyo Olympics, which will now take place next year.

“It was due to these unforeseen circumstances that we at the MVPSF decided it was best to realign our support to cover Hidilyn’s living expenses such as food and rent as she continues to remain focused towards her goal of winning the first Olympic gold for our country in her fourth time to qualify,” said MVPSF President Al Panlilio.

He added that them and Manny V. Pangilinan himself was keeping tabs on the Zamboanguena in the Malaysian capital, in which he took noticed of her predicament and send the necessary aid right away.

“We don’t want Hidilyn to worry about her day-to-day needs so she could pour in all her focus in training and bringing home that elusive Olympic gold medal,” Panlilio added.

Diaz was grateful to the assistance given by the foundation, especially coming off her win in the Eleiko Email International Lifters tourney almost two weeks ago.

"Malaking bagay para sa akin na nandiyan pa rin si MVP at tumutulong sa journey ko," she said.
