Guiao explains why Andray Blatche's arrival will be delayed

Andray Blatche will be arriving to the country a little late due to personal reasons, according to a report by Spin.ph.

Gilas Pilipinas head coach Yeng Guiao said Blatche will be arriving either July 12 or 13, instead of July 8 or 9 due to a child custody case that the naturalized player need to attend to.

“There's going to be a slight delay. Meron siyang court hearing sa custody case ng anak niya. Aattendan niya muna yun bago siya makalipad dito,” Guiao said as quoted by Spin.ph.

Spin.ph also reported Blatche’s lawyers were able to appeal for an earlier court hearing due to his commitments with Gilas Pilipinas.

“His lawyers found a way to advance it para makarating siya dito agad,” said Guiao.

Gilas Pilipinas is looking to have Blatche early for the team’s preparations in the FIBA Basketball World Cup where they will be up against Serbia, Italy, and Angola.
