After staving off relegation to stay in Division A of the FIBA Women's Asia Cup, the Philippines were drawn into yet another tough group, this time in the FIBA Women’s Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament after the draw for two groups has been made Saturday in Bengaluru, India.

Eight teams will be split into two groups of four, in which the top two each group will qualify for the next round, also known as the Olympic Qualifying Tournament proper in February next year.

Patrick Aquino's Gilas Women had been grouped with South Korea, New Zealand and China in Group A in the first round of the qualifiers which will tip off on November 14-17 and it will be the final tournament for the Filipinas before their homestand at the Southeast Asian Games in December.

Although already qualified as the hosts of the Tokyo Olympics, reigning Asian champions Japan will be in Group B, alongside World Cup runners-up Australia, Chinese Taipei and recently relegated India.
