The Gilas Pilipinas Youth team heads to Greece for the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup following their training in Doha.
The youth squad is on their way to Heraklion, Greece where the FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup is set to begin. But before going into battle, the Gilas Pilipinas Youth won their tune-up games in Doha.
On Wednesday, the Gilas Pilipinas Youth defeated Al Rayyan, 93-64, to complete a sweep of their two tune-up games in the Qatar capital.
AJ Edu had 18 points and 9 rebounds, as Dalph Panopio also contributed for the Gilas Pilipinas Youth after finishing with 14 points and 5 rebounds.
A few days ago, the Gilas Pilipinas Youth also won over Al Rayyan, 79-54, in the first tune-up game with Kai Sotto scoring 19 points in the contest.
The team now looks ahead to Greece as they battle against the toughest teams in the world from June 29 to July 7.
The Philippines will face Greece on June 29, before taking on Argentina on June 30. They will also be pitted against Russia on July 2 in a Group C match-up. All teams will advance into the round-of-16 where the knockout stage begins.
