Gilas Pilipinas is set to fly to Spain for tune-up games before the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al Panlilio said they have already set up three to four tune-up games in Spain where they will be facing Spain, Ivory Coast, and Congo. The dates are still being finalized though as the PBA board members will still have to inform the Spain trip to the PBA team owners.

Panlilio thanked the PBA for their continued support to the league as they are set to adjust their schedules for the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup due to the Spain trip.

“It goes without saying the governors are very supportive in trying to find ways to be creative and giving as much preparation to the national team,” said Panlilio after the PBA’s board meeting on May 30.

Panlilio also added the planned tune-up games to Russia will no longer push through as the federation only planned to have one match, which would be very difficult for the players as far as travel is concerned.
