Gilas Pilipinas formally begins FIBA World Cup preparations

Gilas Pilipinas formally began its preparations for the FIBA Basketball World Cup as the team holds its first meeting on the night of June 13.

National head coach Yeng Guiao presided over the team’s first meeting to start off their build-up for the World Cup set August 31 to September 15 in China.

Although there has been no announcement on the composition of the team, Guiao had said that the players who competed in the qualifiers will most likely comprise the pool for the World Cup.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is working hard in Gilas’ preparation for the World Cup. The team is slated to have a tune-up matches in Spain in preparation for tough opponents in the competition.

The PBA has also expressed its support to the Gilas Pilipinas campaign in the World Cup as they’ve continued to lend players and adjust the league’s schedule for the national cause.
