The Gilas Pilipinas Men's 3x3 Team came out win guns blazing, winning all its games in the first day of the 30th Southeast Asian Games basketball 3x3 at the San Juan Arena in San Juan City.
World Cup 5x5 stand out CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, Mo Tautuaa and Jayson Perkins opened the tournament with an impressive21-17 victory over Indonesia. The Philippine squad composed of PBA players also came up with a 21-10 win over Myanmar.
The ultra athletic and versatile Philippine team closed the day with two more victories with the all-pro squad beating Vietnam, 21-15, and Thailand, 21-10.
The Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 squad is eyeing to make it to the semifinals after ending Day 1 with a 4-0 win-loss record.
They will be facing Malaysia and Cambodia tomorrow morning to cap off the preliminaries with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals.
