August had come and gone as San Juan turned up a positive four-game stretch this month, solidifying their lead at the top of the North Division of the MPBL Lakan Season.

Despite losing in our last assignment to GenSan, your Knights set a league record in their title defense as they broke Muntinlupa's previous mark with ease.

Here are the four takeaways from our 3-1 August.

#1: We're still perfect at home

After embarking on a July road-trip where we swept all five games there, the Knights hardly missed a beat when they pummel Quezon City and Nueva Ecija, pushing their home record at 3-0.

Unlike their home opener where Pasay pushed them to the ropes, the defending National Champions turned the heat up in the second quarter to put the game out of reach.

Coach Randy Alcantara stressed the importance of getting these wins at the FilOil FlyingV Centre, as they told his Knights to make the most out of it and never let the home crowd down.

#2: A record streak has been set

The last game of our homestand saw San Juan broke the Cagers' record for the hottest start to the season when they took care of business of Nueva Ecija for their ninth straight win.

Exactly seven days later, they extend it to 10 after easily dismantle Cebu at the Cuneta Astrodome, their first since going 3-0 there in the old MBA more than 20 years ago.

#3: We should learn more when we are losing

However, all streaks in sports came to an end and we saw it in Munti where we lost to GenSan despite having a 15-point lead in the middle of the second period.

That ended the hot run of ours as we even lost Jhonard Clarito midway in the third.

We already knew the cliche that we should learn more when we lost rather than we win, as Coach Randy and the coaching staff should know what to do ahead of next month.

#4: John Wilson still has the hot hands

Picking up where we left off in July, John Wilson still has the flaming hands, as the former King Bomber still lets his hands do the talking to lead San Juan in scoring.

Averaging 25 points for August, Wilson was the team's leading scorer and also on top of the charts for most attempts in the court. However, he still credits the total team effort for finding him open off screens and on transition.

Bring On September!

We now move on to the fourth month of the Lakan Season, with the Knights having four games once again to continue our quest to retain the title.

Hope to see you on September 2 as Marikina visit us for our fourth home game of the season!
