SAN JUAN -- Team UAAP held their nerves in the final frame to repulse Team NCAA in the FilOil FlyingV All Star game, 86-83 Friday evening at the FilOil FlyingV Centre.

Without the UP pair of Ricci Rivero and Kobe Paras, Coach Franz Pumaren's UAAP All-Stars nearly lost their six-point lead in the final two minutes while fending off the challenge of Coach Boyet Fernandez and his crew from the country's oldest collegiate lead in this midseason spectacle.

It stood at 84-78 after Aljun Melecio sank his three free throws with 2:02 to go, and San Beda clinged to within a point on a James Canlas' and-one.

However, Lyceum's Jaycee Marcelino missed the game-winning stepback jumper as  Pumaren heaved a sigh of relief.

La Salle's Andrei Caracut bagged the All-Star game MVP award with 12 points on a 57% from the field, with Adamson's Simon Camacho pitched in 11 for the UAAP selection.

Marcelino led all scorers with 19 points for the NCAA squad.
