SAN JUAN -- San Beda showed no mercy, even on the rebuilding Ateneo as they go 2-0 in the Juniors action at the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup late Thursday morning at the FilOil FlyingV Centre, having their wings clipped with a 105-52 thumping.
The Red Cubs took full advantage on the absence of Forthsky Padrigao (ankle sprain) and former teammate Joshua Lazaro (in Spain for training) to rout the Blue Eaglets by 53.
San Beda are already up by nine in the opening frame when they unleashed a 21-8 bomb in the second to practically seal the contest at halftime, leading by 22 for their second straight win in Group A.
Their ruthless display was evident at their second chance efforts, with Ateneo never had a single point off their 11 offensive boards while San Beda converted 38 of it into 26 points.
Also, the Red Cubs had put the clamps on their victims all game long, forcing 38 turnovers and made 28 points off it.
Wilmar Optana led all scorers with 18 off the bench to go along with 12 rebounds for a double-double, with Justine Sanchez put up a 17-10 game with both hitting 7/9 each from the field.
Jynno Ladimo had 18 for the Blue Eaglets who dropped to 1-2 after losing their second straight game.
