#FilOil2019: San Beda back in the finale after win over Adamson

SAN JUAN -- San Beda ignited a late fightback to book their third straight trip to the FilOil FlyingV Preseason Cup after taking down Adamson, 75-70 to cap off the semifinals Thursday aftenoon at the FilOil FlyingV Centre.

The Red Lions nearly blew their unbeaten record when the Falcons made their fourth-quarter uprising in a tight contest, yet the NCAA champions prevailed in the endgame to book a record-tying eighth date in the championship game, in which they will face La Salle for a record fifth time on Sunday.

James Canlas led San Beda with 16 points and 7 rebounds, with Donald Tankoua added a double-double of 15 and 10.

Forward Calvin Oftana hit the biggest shot of the game, knocking in the triple that broke the twelfth and final deadlock at 70 with 1:08 to go, as he led their bench mob with eight points.

Adamson wilted down under pressure and commited two straight turnovers in the final minute, including a JM Sabandal offensive foul on Evan Nelle with 21.9 to go to seal the contest.

Aaron Fermin exploded for half of his 22 in the final frame for the Adamson who will face Lyceum in the consolation game.
