Perpetual Help mentor Mike Saguiguit admitted that the morale of the Junior Altas are on a record high after taking down La Salle Green Hills last Friday evening at the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup.
"This is the first time that we beat La Salle Greenhills. Kaya upbeat sila," he said after they took down the much fancied Greenies to go 2-0 in the Juniors division Group B.
It was the very first win in recent memory for boys from Las Piñas against their counterparts from Mandaluyong bodes really well for Saguiguit, who is more known on the sidelines for the Olivarez Sea Lions.
"The motivation to get the win against [La Salle] Greenhills, so nakuha nila. [I] hope na tumaas ang morale nila heading into the NCAA," he added, with the post-game celebrations well and truly underway right after Perpetual's 92-83 win.
What made them more inspired to go on the way up was the support of Altas head coach Frankie Lim who was watching the game from the lower box of the FilOil Flying V Centre, in which he helped their high school counterparts in more ways than one.
"Ever since nagpunta si Coach Frankie sa Perpetual, sinuportahan niya ang programa ng Juniors," he further quipped. "So naging maganda. Kasi recruitment namin nakakakuha kami ng magagandang players because sa pagtulong niya."
