SAN JUAN -- Lyceum leaned on a career game by John Barba as they repulsed a short-handed, yet gritty Adamson side, 90-83 to conclude Tuesday's Juniors doubleheaders of the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup.

Barba exploded with a double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds for the Jr. Pirates for their opening win in Group A.

The fiery guard had the hottest of hands as he hit for 12/22 from the field, half of them were from downtown to stifle the Baby Falcons who went into the preseason showcase with a retooled side after their graduation of four players led by slotman Lorenz Capulong.

Despite giving up more second chance points to the UAAP outfit, the NCAA side made good use of their pesky defense, converting 20 Adamson turnovers to 23 points.

Matt Erolon had 22 points in 32 minutes for Adamson in a losing effort.
