SAN JUAN -- Lyceum might have lost their first game in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup, but that was not what really matters for the Pirates as long as coach Topex Robinson is concerned.

Pinoyliga caught up with them minutes after they were pegged back by FEU in their Group B meeting last Tuesday, as he told us exclusively the story behind their pre-game ritual.

"Again, it's about how we really build our bond together," Robinson said about his team encircled and held each other's hands in prayer.

"There's so much about touch, that it's really important that we keep really doing that as a team," he added, noting that they have done this for the past two years, as they have come to .

Apart from that Robinson conceded that FEU were a better team this afteroon and there's nothing wrong about it as far as the morale of the Pirates is concerned.

"For us, FEU's not the competition. It's us beating ourselves," he said. "Learning from this and that's part of our growth. To make mistakes, we lose games just like in life. For what's important is how to stick together and bond together as a team."

To him, the FilOil tilt is an ideal place for them to learn more things as a team other than playing basketball.

"That's the reason why we join the FilOil. It's us to check kung nasaan na kami as a team. It's so nice to play against the best teams in college."
