SAN JUAN -- Two-time NCAA finalists Lyceum have began their post-CJ Perez era with a hard-fought 70-57 win over St. Benilde in the all-NCAA battle to begin Group B play of the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup Monday afternoon.

Topex Robinson's Pirates had to endure the Blazers' gutsy stand after only leading by just four entering the final frame before pulling away for their first win.

LPU's grind-out was evident of their 37% field goal shooting, including an atrocious 2/19 from downtown, yet transferee Enzo Navaroo kickstarted the breakaway that got them the victory.

Jaycee Marcelino led all scorers for Lyceum with 15 points off the bench on a 60% field goal shooting, with slotman Mike Harry Nzeusseu followed with 10.

Forward Robi Nayve and center Jay Pangalangan each had 12 for CSB who have five players out while on PBA D-League duty.

Lyceum 70 -- JC Marcelino 15, Nzeusseu 12, Navarro 6, Valdez 6 Ibañez 5, Santos 5, Caduyac 4 Remulla 4, Guinto 4, JV Marcelino 3, Tansingco 2, Baetiong 2, Lumbao 0

St. Benilde -- Nayve 12, Pangalangan 12, Lepalam 10, Flores 9, Javillonar 5, Carlos 5, Young 2, Mosqueda 2, Sangco 2, Domingo 0
