#FilOil2019: JRU gets first win, beats EAC after breakaway in the fourth

SAN JUAN -- Jose Rizal University detonated at the right time to get their first win at the 13th FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup after subduing EAC, 84-78, in the group B game Thursday afternoon at the FilOil FlyingV Centre.

Trailing for most of the game, the bombs have finally dropped for Louie Gonzales' Heavy Bombers in the payoff period, disarming the Generals in a close-quartered encounter between the two NCAA teams as they tied their victims at 1-3.

It took a four minute stretch in the payoff frame when JRU unleashed a 12-1 run, overturning a two-point deficit into a nine point lead, 73-64 to finally get the win at last after four tries despite their bad free throw shooting in the first half, hitting just three of eleven.

Agem Miranda led all scorers with 25 points on a 76% field goal shooting, most of it from inside the arc, with Louise Delos Santos became their fourth-quarter man as he hit 10 of his 16 there before fouling out with 2:06 left.

Chester Carlos paced EAC with 17. JC Luciano added a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds as the Generals lost for the second game in a row after stunning NU last week
