SAN JUAN -- Perpetual Help rode on the dynamic duo of Emman Galman and Kyle Cuevas to rout FEU, 81-60 to open the Juniors doubleheaders of the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup Tuesday morning.
Seeking to prove that their upset win against LSGH was not a fluke, the Junior Altas had caught another huge fish, with the powerhouse Baby Tamaraws their latest victim in Group B, racking up their third win on the trot to tighten their grip at the top.
Galman led all scorers with 20 points on a 70% field goal shooting in just 20 minutes of action, while Cuevas hit a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 4 steals, one more than the entire FEU output for the game.
Perps even saw their fourteen point lead early in the second quarter cut into just one at the break, but got their act together at the restart, limiting their victims to just 19 points, including 6 in the payoff period.
"Happy lalo ang mga bata. Festive uli ang ambiance namin sa dugout," said coach Mike Saguiguit after they took down the UAAP powerhouse.
That breakaway was punctuatd by a 12-0 rout in the last three minutes that turned an eleven point lead to a 23-point blowout, with Yuki Kawamura and Shawn Orgo teamed up in that rally.
Kyle Bautista had 19 points for the now 1-1 Baby Tamaraws.
