SAN JUAN -- FEU lit up from deep to get their inaugural win of the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup Monday afternoon, after goring down LPU, 86-78 in the first of the Seniors division tripleheaders at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
The Tamaraws fired 17 triples on a 44% shooting, as third time finally is the charm for coach Olsen Racela in Group B.
A hot first quarter paved the way for FEU to deal the Pirates its first loss, leaving Group A leaders San Beda as the lone unbeaten team in the 13th edition of the country's preseason tilt.
Rey Bienes had all 14 points in the first half to lead FEU, including a perfect 4/4 from downtown as they shot 40% from the field as a team while playing just nine minute in the entire contest.
Comboy backstopped Bienes with 13 points, with all of his field goals came from beyond the arc.
FEU nearly led by the entire game and led by as much as 18 in th third, 67-49 on a three-pointer by Xyrus Torres, who also had 13 in the game.
Jaycee Marcelino led the now 3-1 Lyceum with 17.
