SAN JUAN -- San Sebastian nearly blew a huge third-quarter lead but kept their cool to survive the last-ditch shootout against UST, 85-81 to cap off Tuesday's games at the FilOil FlyingV Preseason Cup tonight.

Egay Macaraya's Golden Stags scored another win against a UAAP side, going 2-0 to share the Group A lead with idle San Beda after going through another Mayhem by the Growling Tigers, who came from yesterday's win over Arellano.

RK Ilagan scored half of his 28 points from the foul line, including the final five free throws to lead Baste in a heated match up.

San Sebastian waxed hot to start, scoring the game's first eight points and led by as much as 17 before going to the break with a fifteen point lead.

From there, they even led by 16 before UST went on a rampage in the third, firing 17 without reply before Baste retook the lead just before the end of the third, setting a wild final frame.

The Stags and the Tigers exchanged shots which featured another late outburst by Mark Nonoy who scored 13 of his 18 to keep UST afloat, despite having a cut in the left eye.

However, it was Ilagan with the final word, hitting five of six from the line in the last 23.3 seconds to secure a gritty win for San Sebastian.
