The nightmare continues for the Philippines at the 2019 FIBA Women's Asia Cup after China walloped them with a 104-57 rout Wednesday evening in Bengaluru, India.
Unlike in their Group B opener against Australia where they never got the lead for the entire game, Patrick Aquino's Gilas Women even led by as much as three in the opening frame by replying to Yuan Li's triple with a 6-0 blast.
But the eleven-time Asian champions limited them to just five points the rest of the first period to put the game away, and even held the Filipinas to just ten fourth quarter points for their second straight win.
Chen MIngling had 21 points to lead all scorers, as she shot 61.5% from the field including 3/5 from the rainbow territory for China, with Guo Zixuan adding 19.
Afril Bernardino is the lone Filipina in double figures with 10 points, as Janine Pontejos added nine with Kelli Hayes being checked with just 8 markers.
Gilas Women will face New Zealand Thursday afternoon as they try to avoid being shut out in the group and avoid playing in the game for 7th.
