2K Sports have cashed in on the hype of as they unveiled Damian Lillard as one of the three cover athletes in NBA 2K21 last June 30.

The five-time All Star from the Portland Trailblazers was known for his trademark fourth-quarter heroics and insane range from way beyond the arc, Lillard already knows the prestige of being a cover athlete, having been on the front of the NBA 2K Online 2 previously.

It was a perfect mix as he was not just dropping bombs from the center-court logos, Lillard was known to drop massive bars on the studio with three albums to his Dame D.O.L.L.A persona, matching the theme of the upcoming installment to the series Everything is Game.

“This is a special moment for me in my NBA career,” Lillard said.

“I’ve been a fan of NBA 2K for years and love how they represent all aspects of basketball culture. I’ve been playing 2K my whole life and I’m honored to join the other NBA greats who have been on the cover. I’m grateful to all my fans and can’t wait for everyone to experience this game later this year.”

A unanimous Rookie of the Year awardee and a part of three All-NBA Teams, Lillard will be gracing the cover of 2K21 on the current platforms, which include Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

“There are a lot of great players in the NBA today, but Damian Lillard has done a particularly standout job of representing the current generation of NBA superstar," stated Alfie Brody, Vice President of Marketing for NBA 2K. "From his cultural influence, musical success, off the court leadership, and on court domination, he's the perfect fit for our cover of NBA 2K21 on current-generation platforms; we're honored to have him."

Beyond the cover, NBA 2K and Lillard have linked up through the 2K Foundations to give back to his hometown in Oakland, California by renovating one of the sites for the community to play in.
